Q: i am looking for detailed construction plans for building timber decks, can anyone help plz?
A: Timber decks are simple to throw up. Have a look at your local Sawmill or Timber Yards they usually have a load. Don’t know why you need them to be detailed – all you need to do is create a solid frame for your decking lats to fasten down onto.
Don’t be suckered into paying over priced rates from B&Q or other ‘High Street’ stores – I’m a joiner and I find it rediculous how much they charge people for their kits – go to your local timber yard and buy the wood yourself you’ll save yourself a fortune.
Q: Yu-Gi-Oh deck construction help.?
Okay, I’m trying to make a deck using the effect of changing my opponents battle position (and sometimes my own). But I’m not sure what route to go.
Right now I have: (NOTE: These cards are not necessarily going in my deck, but I do plan to use them in my deck.)
Monsters:
-Exarion universe x2
-Man-Eater Bug
-Gonogo x2
-Dream Clown x2
-Gravitic Orb
-Mobius the Frost Monarch x2
-Dummy Golem
-Nobleman-Eater Bug
-Giant Rat
-Mystic Swordsman LV 2
-Trap Master
-Old Vindictive Magician
(I can get more, if you have any suggestions for things to add, please do.)

-Enemy Controller x2
-Ookazi
-No Entry!! x2
-Castle Walls
-Zero Gravity
-Curse of Anubis
-Big Bang Shot
-Heated Heart x2
-Book of Moon
-Micro Ray (I need 2 more)
-Mesmeric Control x2
-Guard Penalty
Just to give you an idea of the types of cards I want to use. (It doesn’t have to be those exact cards, but definitely stuff like Gonogo, Dream Clown, No Entry!!, etc. That involve changing battle position)
So what would you all suggest. (Please suggest complete decks if you can.)
Coolio, I would suggest that, if you’re living in a gangsta’s paradies, you should just move…problem solved.
A: Dude why would you want to make that deck. It is really bad. I would suggest making a new and cheap deck.

Q: What is a good site to learn about how to make construction blueprints?
As part of a class project, our group is drawing up plans for three-level parking deck. I was wondering if there is a website that gives information on blueprinting and one for making budgets
A: Blue printing is a very old technique which I haven’t seen used for at least 50 years. Current practice is to make black or blue line prints from an original that is plotted from a cadd file.
Q: How to plan an overhangs construction?
My dad and I are starting on an outdoor project to build an overhang on our deck. He wants me to lay out a plan, and I’m stoked. Any ideas?
A: My plan to prepare for building an overhang is perfect in my opinion. LOL. Check it out, there are a lot of steps but it works. I have been doing this for awhile.
Q: I am thinking of selling my house that I purchased 23 years ago and would like to know the tax implications.?
I purchased it 23 years ago for $235k plus what i think is $400k in improvements and can sell now for $1.6m. I believe that any gain over $500k will be taxed, is this true? And exactly what am I allowed to include in the $400k improvements above? Plans, plants, paint, construction, driveway, roof, deck, fence, pool?
A: Your basis is your cost (or cost minus deferred profit from a previous home under the old law) plus improvements. You subtract the sales costs–commission and escrow fees and your basis from the sales price and the difference is profit of which $500K is a freebie. The rest is taxed at capital gains rates. Get a pro to figure it right. The best you can expect here is something in the ballpark.
Q: How is the construction business in Vegas?
We are planning on moving to Vegas this summer. My husband is a licensed General Contractor here where we live. However, he doesn’t think he is going to get his contractors license in Nevada. At least not right away til he gets a feel for the industry there first. In the meantime, he would want to work for someone else. He is an excellent contractor with over 25+ years in the industry, but, he wants to get away from framing and go into more finish work, cabinet construction and install, remodeling, decks, patios, add ons, etc. Is there a market for these skills without a license. And what kind of pay could he realistically expect with these skills and years of experience?
Are there plenty of good paying jobs around? Or is the money mostly in being a licensed person in this trade. Right now he is earning only around $25K – $30K. He wants to make more money without the hassles of licensing. Is this possible?
A: The biz is Booming! Come on down!
Q: plan b deck question?
im gettin a new skateboard and i want to know if the plan b technicolor deck with the prolite construction is good or not. i also wanna know which one cooler the p rod one or the jereme rogers one
that doesnt help at all
A: yes the plan b prolite is really good, I got two weeks ago and it has great pop, and its really durable. As for which one is cooler, if I were you I would get the P Rod even though I got the Pj Ladd one.
Q: Is there a solution after watering to the back fill of the cured concrete footing?
1) My planned deck has about 430 sqft, 12 holes were digged and concrete were poured in. Three dry days passed and the concrete were perfectly cured.
2) We started to build the posts (6×6 and 2 feet high) ) on the piers and the girders on top of the 6×6 posts. The girders are three times 2×10s. It took us three days to complete the job & leveling the girders. We had their position secured with studs attached to the house construction. Now the 12 piers were loaded with thousands pounds evenly.
3) My mistake was, that at this time, I found the surrounding of the piers under the surface had some big hallow space which were caused by insufficient earth backfilling. I thought water them might fill and cure the hallow space, and then I did it.
4) Some expereinced people said this might cause serious displacement in the base of the peirs and causing trubles later. But I checked carefully with the levels on the 2nd day, it seemed pretty much in position.
5) Is there a solution? ThanksLot
A: You need to add more dirt since the back fill has settled. If you are concerned about getting the dirt packed in better, you could pour some dry fill sand in voids then gently pack it down.
Unless you used a mechanical packer when you back filled the dirt will always settle – part of nature.
Another option is to pack the dirt down around the piers then add and pack more dirt around them.
If the piers were poured properly and soil is not eroding from around them then you have no problems – just need to add more dirt. Don’t worry this happens all the time when back filling.
Q: HELP!!! pation DECK wood, 25 ft X 15ft. how much wood would i use?
i am trying to build a patio deck/ porch… we already ha cement on my back yard but i am trying to build a porch or deck… i am not sure what you call it…. just like somehting that will provide shade but with just the wooden bars as the roof.. i am planning on putting plant vines to go up the pation deck and fill up with time… but right now i am just trying to build it out of wood. do i need a permit? my original question is HOw much wood do i need and how much would it co$t me approximately… ???? (how much would be the cost of the wood alone be)?????? please note that it would be about 25ft long and about 15ft wide. and about 10ft high… something very simple like this…….

http://www.dao-construction.com/images/patio_deck%20(59).jpg
actually my uncle has been a carpenter for about 27 years and he will be willing to do it just as long as i help him. i am only asking for wood price… please dont worry about me knowing how to build this (this is for the first smart @ss who answered my question)
A: Most places do require a permit but have no way of controlling it. Check with your City’s building department.
Also, I built one just like the one in your picture and the material will be around $1000 (a nice one).
Q: Beam Sizing – Construction design question?
I am planning on building a loft in my shop. It will be used for
storage of “normal” weight items (nothing extraordinary). It will be
against the back wall of my shop and I can attach a ledger board to
that wall.
The deck will be 24 feet wide and will extend 8 feet out from the
wall. I would like to span all 24 feet at the front from the two
front corners. I am trying to figure how big of a beam will I need to
support this size span. I intend to weld up brackets, placed on wood
or steel posts, for the corners to support the beam. I could have a
center post, but would really prefer not. Anything up to 4×18 or 6×18
is doable.
I plan to deck this with 3/4 plywood on top of 2×8 joists, 16″ oc,
spanning the 8 feet.
The question: Size a glulam beam spanning 24 feet. Size one more for
if the span increased to 26′. Can this be supported on 6×6 or 8×8
wood posts?
A: I mean, you need a degree to answer this.

A: Ask them..but if you can afford it …DO IT! It is better to make sure you get what you want and not regret and try to add it on later. Pools settle and things are not the same.
They are a lot of work and expense…we had one for 25 years and we just filled it in two years ago. I am so relieved and so happy we did that. It was very expensive especially when the chlorine locked in. Man..sometimes it took over 2000 bucks of chemicals to get that unlocked and show a reading…and the water was beautiful and clear…and yet so unsafe no one could swim. It takes one to two weeks to get that cleared up.
Make sure they don’t use lotion and make sure they wash their feet off when they go in. If they get anything like some kind of pesticide or something like that on their feet….you are in for one expensive week or two.
The neighbors would have their trees sprayed and taken care of and the air would drift it over into the pool….and we have three acres each…and that was it. It was horrible.
Lots of responsibility…and lots of expense……
Q: Plan B prolites are technicolors the same where can i buy one?
i was wondering is the technicolor decks prolite construction or not? and i was wondering where i could buy one
A: Yes, the technicoor deck is prolite construction. You are able to purchase them from either your local skateshop by requesting if they don’t have it in stock, or you could check these websites:
www.ccs.com
http://www.oldschoolskaters.net/store/scripts/prodList.asp?manufacturer=229&curPage=2&sortField=sortorder
Q: Would it be possible to monopolize construction and renovation companies?
Think of it for a while. Ask this question to the company that your getting renovations done from, a new deck, or roofing, “Would you do a better job at roofing than if I ask my friend Joe for an experienced roofer and some of his worker friends to work for me for the same amount of pay?” and he spits out that he has 5 years experience doing roofing and some challenges that he can tackle. Then you look at his website and its decent, but when you look at the end result its mediocre or damn right ugly and only for $30,000. Doesn’t this make anyone want to yell and sue the company?
Well, call me crazy what if there was a company that hired part time construction workers and full-time workers that worked for construction which decided to work for this company instead, because of the integrity of this company. I know this is crazy advertising and marketing, but what if the government buys this plan and endorses it? What if the workers wore vests that have their name and has their rank on it. For example, “Hi I am Joseph and I have a A+ Roofer badge, and I have here Steve an A roofer , John a B+ roofer and Joe a C+ roofer”.
I know this is a crazy business model, but there is crazy risk and only the right people can actually achieve this, but this is the formula to monopolize construction and renovation companies. So my question still remains would it be possible to monopolize construction and renovation companies.
A: No. There will always be wannabes hanging around the fringes, ready to lowball the “real” guys.
