Q: What jobs could i get with HND Construction Management or HND Architectural Design?
I’ve been offered the chance to do either HND Construction Management or HND Architectural Design.
What jobs would be on offer to a person with those qualifications and what would the pay be like?
Is it worth loosing out on becoming a tradesman to do one of those courses?
A: You could become a chartered engineer/architect earning upwards of £30k. i would do it if i was you. i am beginning an architectural engineering degree in september and hope to be a civil engineer afterwards.
most engineering companies only look for HND qualified in engineers.
as a tradesman your earning potential is limited – as an architect or engineer you could be earning the big bucks in a few years.
hope this helps and good luck, you have to be really passionate about it to succeed in this field though so if youre non chalant about it i wouldnt bother.
Q: Please suggest some topics for an undergraduate civil engineering design project in “Construction Management”?
Hav been doing research on the possible topics for construction management, but all i end up with are research oriented topics. Was considering a few typical topics based on the actual work carried out in the construction industry to manage projects, but i’m looking for something new and innovative at the same time. Also, if possible, please suggest design project topics that any of you civil engineers out there worked on during undergraduate degree or anything in the same field.
A: Review this site for ideas (or stimuli)…

The engineering is “extreme”
Q: what is design management about?
design management within the construction industry and step by step explaination in the process within construction
A: Getting the perfect plans!
Can you explain your question?
Thanks!
Q: Health and Safety on construction project?
I have been given a scenario, it is a construction project of a shopping center, an assistant manager has all responsibility over the site, also there’s some domestic and specialist subcontracting firms employed whom will have been responsible for designing and manufacturing and installing their various compnents
i have to identify the persons who are responsible for H & S on the project?
now, my answer is the Assistant manager himself is responsible on-site for H & S , as he assumes total control over site activities, and i believe those firms have also responsibilities under CDM (construction, design and management) regulation 1994.
what i would like to know is, do those Firms assign their own (SSO) site safety officers or projet team leaders to work in the project, and how do they interact with other SSO and the assitant manager?
is my answer correct? if so, could someone tell me about the last part, the interation between H&S officers or projet team leaders..
if not, then please could you point me to where i can find more information about the subject, i tried H&S website, but still i am not sure, can’t find anything related to his, or maybe i just missed it
thank you very much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A: They are all responsible for safety, even the workers. If their is any supervisor, they are responsible for the training of all employees unless a safety manager or any other superior holds those responsibilities. I think one part of your question is asking about who is responsible for contracted workers? That would rest on their companies supervisors/managers. Even if they are working on your property, they are responsible, not you.

Legal?
A: Companies have their own accounts receivable departments. Any legitimate company would not have you deposit checks into your own personal checking account, unless it’s fraudulent. The other poster is right, the check will bounce then you’ll be held accountable for it. The only way that it would be legit is if you were depositing checks that came in into the company’s business account, in which you would have no money control over. Now the probability of getting a job working at home with this type, is null. With all the check fraud’s out there, no company will hire someone to work from home. Check depositing, is primarily the management dealings at the end of the day. This whole outfit looks like it’s a major set up for you to get scammed and put into jail for check fraud! Don’t do it.
If you really want to work from home and make a “legitament income -pun intended on check fraud” I suggest you start your own home based business. There are plenty of opportunities around for you to work at home. They’re not home jobs, they are businesses that you work out of your home. You have the same income opportunity as traditional businesses but without all the over head expenses. Most everything in your home becomes tax write offs.
One example of a home based business is what my husband and I started over six years ago. We both wanted to work out of our home and be together raising our children. We didn’t want to send them off to a daycare center. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not putting down daycare providers. They work hard. But I just didn’t want the traditional family lifestyle of one or both parents having to work out of the home and really not be a part of our children’s life. I didn’t want that lifestyle. I wanted to be with my kids. Finding that home “jobs” pay very low at minimum wage, we found that having a “business” that we could run out of our home, would be more profitable for us. The company we chose made the most since to us. A product that is and always will be in high demand. There are a lot of products and services out there that are good. We decided to partner up with this company because it was things that people will always use and pay for anyway, pretty much no matter what. We didn’t have to worry if money became tight that they could easily run to the store and purchase on sale or be able to buy it at the dollar store. So, we got involved in the world’s largest direct selling telecommunications service provider that was started back in 1993. It’s now a 15 year old, world wide international company. With headquarters in Farmington Hills, Michigan, Charlotte, Amsterdam, Sydney and Montreal.
They have been featured in several magazines like USA Today, Success, Fortune etc. Inc 500 rated them the 22nd fastest growing company in revenue in it’s first five years. They are registered with the BBB as well.
They market in services people use every day and pay for anyway, like I had said. Services like Local and Long Distance telephones, Internet, Digital, video phones, Satellite TV, and all the major cellular phone companies like T-Mobile, Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, Nextell, Altell etc as well. We save people money and make money at the same time. Every single month these people pay their bills, we make a percentage over and over again each month.
How many people do you know, or know of around the world that uses one or more of these services or products? . A lot of money involved in this industry.
When we started our non profit organization called SOFTIN funding is so hard to find with the compeitition involved. Every non profit organization is out there trying to find donors through large corporations. We could make the monthly income to well support our non profit organization based on what we knew and how much we made from our business. So we started a funding program through our business for our non profit as well as it’s becoming a major funding source for other non profit organizations.

Q: Becoming a college educator?
I am interested in getting into education at the college level. I would either be teaching construction management or interior design. I have my undergrad in Interior Design and am considering getting my masters in either Interior Design or Construction Management. If anyone has any experience in college education in either field I am interested in or any helpful hints about getting in to teaching college please let me know. Any information would be very appreciated.
A: You dont always need a PHD to teach at the 4 year level. Many teachers who teach introduction classes have masters degrees. Also, not that Im putting down your subjects, but things like interior design dont really need a PHD.
