Q: Should we be proposing the constrution of more nuclear power plants as clean energy alternative?
If so, should we bury the waste, or just dump it into the ocean ?

A: No, they are too expensive, and there really isn’t a safe way of storing the waste.
The money used to build one plant could be used for other resources.

Q: Shouldn’t we wait to have enough alternative clean sources of energy before placing Cap N Trade?
And shouldn’t the government provide guidelines as to how Businesses can also save on energy without cutting back on production, losing profit or cutting losses?

Because otherwise wouldn’t Cap N Trade just become extra tax burden on Businesses? How do they figure it will cut back on carbon emissions?

A: You are not quite right. We should not have cap and trade at all. The only thing it will do is make a few people who sell carbon offset credits very rich while for the rest of us the cost of living goes up and our standard of living goes down. When did it become the government’s place to artificially raise prices on energy. Our quality of life has been possible because of cheap energy but the government control freaks don’t seem to care. Do your duty to help all Americans and contact your senators to encourage them to vote against cap and trade. Also contact your congressman and tell him how you feel about the way he voted on this issue. Then, beginning with the primaries next year let’s vote every incumbent out of office. A new inexperienced congress and senate couldn’t screw things up any worse than the morons who are there now.

Q: Missouri Proposition C for the clean energy alternative?
Did this pass?

A: Yes.

Q: Hydrogen fuel cells have been considered an alternative for a clean source of energy. In a fuel cell, hydrogen?
Hydrogen fuel cells have been considered an alternative for a clean source of energy. In a fuel cell, hydrogen reacts with oxygen to produce water, and at the same time, it releases a great deal of energy. Write an essay that addresses the chemical reaction of hydrogen fuel cells, the energy that is available from this reaction, and whether this type of alternative fuel is feasible. Be complete and use examples to support your statements

A: use perhaps the Riemann’s dzeta function

Q: Should the government announce a program to develop a clean, alternative source of energy within 10 years?
Let’s do something like the space program and stop forking over godgillions to the arabs who hate us so much. Much better for the climate too. If we hadn’t had a jackass in the White House for the last 8 years, this would already have been done.

A: If you’re suggesting that Al Gore or John Kerry would have done anything to develop alternative energy, then your are a bigger fool then both of them put together.

George Bush’s private residence is a green house, that cannot be said about the other two frauds.

Those two and the Clinton’s tell people what they want to hear to get votes, not to actually act on anything they’ve said. They do not want to make America a better place, they want to surrender it to the world.

Q: Why do American businesses have to be repulsed by saving the environment with clean energy alternatives??!?!?!
Aside from the obvious economical instability that could be created by the loss of jobs of oil workers and such why is the idea of alternative energy so repulsive? Especially when those jobs could be replaced with ones that produce clean energy, albeit that solar collection facilities, wind turbines and other such facilities require little around the clock attention.

A: First and foremost, the current technology on alternative energy cannot support the required energy requirement of an industrialized country like ours. Also, the current technology is not stable enough to sustain energy requirement for a very long time. But the most obvious reason is, our economy/currency is currently tied up with Oil, due to the huge investment made by the USA in the Middle east, like ARAMCO.

Q: Photovoltaic ; Alternative ways in which the world is moving to a clean energy future ?
what’s the importance of moving toward a more energy efficient, environmentally benign future.?

http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20070903/sc_nm/energy_photovoltaic_dc;_ylt=A9G_RqYy89xGL0UBhAMDW7oF

A: In every way that we can, we should be looking for ways to increase efficiency and improve our methods of energy production. This is not a “green” initiative, but it is the goal of good, sound science.

The innovations that occur when scientists focus on creating technology that burns cleaner, is cheaper, and produces less waste will spur new industries to develop. The oil based economy of the US will go through an adjustment period as new technologies replace more obsolete systems, but the end result will be a cleaner, cheaper, and more efficient energy source.

It is essential that we continue to pursue scientific advancement to assist in improving the world around us, and, as with any field of endevour, we must remain open to all possible solutions to our problems. Solar energy has been a dream for generations. With a concentrated research effort, we may be able to overcome the resistence from the current energy syndicates and make Solar Energy an affordable alternative for everyone.

Q: Are any of the candidates backing clean coal as an alternative energy source?

A: I don’t know of any candidate backing clean coal but you are correct it is a possible option. Since coal is one of the greatest resources here in America that would be a good way until a alternative safe power could be produced.

Coal Gasification

Gasification is also a possibility for future energy use, as the produced syngas can be cleaned-up relatively easily leading to cleaner burning than burning coal directly (the conventional way). The cleanliness of the cleaned-up syngas is comparable to natural gas enabling to burn it in a more efficient gas turbine rather than in a boiler used to drive a steam turbine. Syngas produced by gasification can be CO-shifted meaning that the combustible CO in the syngas is transferred into carbon dioxide (CO2) using water as a reactant. The CO-shift reaction also produces an amount of combustible hydrogen (H2) equal to the amount of CO converted into CO2. The CO2 concentrations (or rather CO2 partial pressures) obtained by using coal gasification followed by a CO-shift reaction are much higher than in case of direct combustion of coal in air (which is mostly nitrogen). These higher concentrations of carbon dioxide make carbon capture and storage much more economical than it otherwise would be.

Q: A couple of questions about alternative energy?
Is there a clean source of alternative energy that produce the energy we need to sustain our cities, or will we have to cut back our usage?

My grandma was commenting the other day that there was no way she would be able to make her house eco friendly- even with subsidies. If other people are in that position how does it get done?
Majority of the appliances are fine. I am talking about the house.

A: the mother nature do provide us with a lot gifted enegry resources which r available in the nature….but some of them r non reneable resources and other r reneable resources… best thing is using alternative sources like tidal energy wind energy, solar energy, like wise we a lot using them is pollution free and beneficial…to make ones house ecofriendly its very simple …..1.do not pollute ur environment by throwing waste in to the ground,2.try to use solar energy.

Q: What is your view on Palm Oil as an alternative energy resource?
Oil Palm plantations are growing at rapid rates in the tropical nations of Indonesia and Malaysia. These lands were once covered by upwards to 90% rain forest just a century ago, while that has declined presently to less than 50%. This is due largely to oil palm plantations. Palm oil has been used historically as a cooking and cosmetics additive with other uses. However, the palm oil industry is now booming with its realization of clean energy. Europe has turned to this clean energy in hopes of reducing the global warming problem. Palm oil is about 8-10 times as efficient as ethanol for power. However, rainforests are being slashed and burned at record rates in these nations, to make room for more palm oil plantations. These areas which were a rich are for trees and plants as well as animals are now being turned into an oil palm monoculture for profits. Think about how the atmosphere is effected when dense rain forests are being burnt down at blinding speeds.

A: I don’t think using straight Palm Oil as an alternative energy resource is a good idea. I do think, however, that using Palm Oil biowaste from these mills would be a better alternative energy source that would help to elliviate potential groundwater contaminants.

Solid and liquid biomass waste is a renewable source of energy that could potentially be transformed into electricity, gas, bio-diesel and fertilizer to serve remote rural areas and reduce dependence on fossil fuels.

I think if we educate the producers in this area about the potential their waste products have, we could influence them to conserve and become more aware of the impact they have on the local, regional and global environment. All businesses want to realize the savings of running an efficient operation. Therefore, showing that their waste by-products may hold lucrative potential may be just the incentive needed to spark this effort to “green-up” their biz.

Q: What are some new revolutionary ideas in the feild of alternative energy?
I would like a debate on the most efficient clean energy sources.

A: See if http://www.eco20-20.com/ helps.

Q: What causes gravity and is gravity energy?
Some people talk about anti-gravity or taping into this gravity called dark energy has a clean alternative energy. Also what is space-time and can we tap into space-time and use that has energy?

This dark energy called gravity that we cannot see or touch but can feel the effets of it.

And why do bigger mass have more of this energy? When will this clean energy replace gas ,oil or coal?

What about UV energy from the sun? Can we tap into UV energy or gama ray energy? And get are electricity that way?

A: Best I could say is ego is anti gravity, the bigger the head the further away your repulsed, the inverse of that would be that humility acts like gravity drawing orbiting beings closer in, the bigger, but meeker the star the more force of attraction. It all has to deal with the forces of attraction and repulsion, a balace, just; such is why it is a law.

Q: Is coal burning and nuclear power really the answer to alternative energy?
As far as I know this is not “clean energy”

A: No.

Wind power & Solar power are far better options and if the governments actually spent money improving these areas instead of shoving it in their own pockets or continuing to fund dead end areas such as nuclear power than perhaps the planet would have a chance.

Have you seen how hard the coal miners work? And then all the health problems they get? It is not safe for them. Train them to work on wind farms and solar farms. It’s safer for them, for us, for the planet. That’s how I see it anyhow and I have looked into this myself.

You are better to try to live off the grid yourself if you can afford the initial start up. Get solar panels on your roof, get a little wind fan on your roof, solar hot water, grey water, rain water tanks, and then get green power for the small amounts of time you actually need to use power from the grid.

This way you are NOT actually contributing to any of the dirty energy and in the long run you end up saving money. This is what I’m trying to do also.

Q: Why is green energy referred to as alternative energy?
Wouldn’t it make more sense to call it “green,” “clean,” or “renewable” energy? Just what exactly is green energy an alternative to? Is it an alternative to global warming, dependency on fossil fuels, deforestation, depletion of the earth’s resources, extinction of several species, and acid rain? Is it an alternative to fighting wars over oil, oil lobbyists trying to run the show, and large corporations getting tax breaks and large subsidies? It doesn’t sound like an alternative to me; it sounds like a solution. What do you think?

A: It’s about market research. Green is the new buzz word. I’m sure there are marketing people polling to see which words catch the attention of the viewers. It’s a great generic term which can mean anything without offending anyone. If we say clean energy then people may say what about clean coal, which is still just a theory. If we say renewable that may make people think of huge turbines or solar panels and many still think these are too expensive or ugly. If you toss global warming or climate change into the conversation, many will just tune out or start a debate. So, “green” seems to be the safest choice for now.

Q: How do I invest in alternative energy?
I’ve never invested before, but I want to invest in clean forms of energy like: wind, solar, hydro, and even clean coal amongst other forms.

What I am asking is where on the net to look into this, research it, etc…And I would also like to know the first steps or any tips that anyone would like to offer me. Thank you
